Kupwara, Jan 30 (KNO): Residents of Rajwar Wadder Payeen in Kupwara on Tuesday held a protest saying that they are facing immense challenges in absence of electricity, water and roads.
Gathering outside the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara complex, they raised slogans in favor of their demands for proper basic facilities.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the aggrieved residents said that they are facing difficulties in the absence of the proper basic facilities like electricity, water and roads.
“We have approached the authorities in the past on multiple occasions. We have provided written representations to no avail. We are now tired of seeking attention from the authorities, forcing residents to hold peaceful protests to press for demands,” said the aggrieved residents.
The protesting residents alleged that in the absence of proper road facilities, they are forced to carry patients and pregnant women on their shoulders for treatment.
“Only soil cutting has been done and no proper roads have been made there is macadamization. We are facing immense challenges,” they said.
An elderly among the protesters said that their children are not able to go, leaving all others to suffer for want of basic facilities.
He said that although they have approached the officers concerned in the past on multiple occasions, no concrete steps were initiated for the good of residents.
The residents stated that in absence of roads, scheduled electricity, and water people are left on God's mercy with people living like animals due to the inaction.
The residents raised slogans against Jal Shakti, KPDCL and R&B saying that their demands be fulfilled at an earliest.
Following the protest, they were called inside the complex by officials to raise their concerns with the competent authorities for an early redressal—(KNO)
